Using the Wyze Cam Pan in Canada
When building out your smart home, one product to consider is a Wi-Fi security camera, such as the affordable Wyze Cam Pan. The camera offers 1080p HD video and can also pan 360° & tilt 110°, so you can get a full view of the room it’s in.
The Wyze Cam Pan also has enhanced night vision which uses infrared LEDs to detect up to 30 feet away. There’s also a pan scan feature that will automatically scan the room it’s in as well as motion tracking and sound & motion detection.
Even though the Wyze Cam Pan isn’t officially available in Canada, you still purchase the camera from Wantboard and use it without any compatibility issues.
Setup
The Wyze Cam Pan is fairly easy to set up. To get started, just download the Wyze app and it’ll take you through all the steps including how to control the camera and connecting it to Wi-Fi.
Using the Wyze Cam Pan
The Wyze app allows you to hear the sound from your cameras, record video, take photos and even use it as a walkie-talkie with its two-way audio feature.
The camera also comes with a time-lapse video option and the option to choose between SD or HD quality. One thing to note is that the Wyze Cam Pan will only record events to the cloud or when you manually press the record button in the Wyze app. And whenever it detects motion, it can send you a notification in the app, making it handy as a security camera.
It features a very a cute and friendly design, not unlike the Google Clips, making it feel less ominous than a standard security camera.
If you would like to have the Wyze Cam Pan record continuously or use the time lapse feature, you’ll need to put in a microSD card.
Alexa Compatibility
Recently Wyze has added the ability to work with Alexa. you can view your camera’s feed through your Echo Show, Echo Spot, Fire TV, Fire Tablet (7th Gen or later) or Fire Edition TV.
After enabling the Wyze skill in the Alexa app and linking to your Wyze account. Just ask: “Alexa, show me Wyze Cam Pan” and your video feed will begin streaming.
